Dermatological laser therapy

The word LASER stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.

Differing types of laser are available, whereby radiation of different wave lengths which comes from different sources is correspondingly suited to facilitating certain kinds of treatment.

The active principle is called selective photothermolysis. This means that a certain wave length is absorbed by the target structure (e.g. blood vessel, pigment mark, tattoo colour, hair), and that this is heated, damaged or destroyed – if at all possible, without affecting the surrounding or above layers of skin.
