Wine stains / naevus flammeus

Wine stains (naevus flammeus), also called ‘port wine stains’, are predominantly light to dark red vessel-rich formations of colour which are either congenital or occur early in life and can mostly disappear when squeezed. They can either be the size of a coin or can cover large parts of the body.

  • Treatment with vascular laser systems:
    perfectly possible
  • Length of one treatment:
    10-60 minutes
  • Pre-treatment and aftercare:
    with anaesthetic cream and chilling
  • Number of treatments:
    8-20 or more – depending on the area and localisation
  • Interval between the treatments:
    3-4 weeks
  • Cost per session of treatment
    costs can normally be covered by the health insurance schemes
